Snippets.... from a professional

Snippets.... from a professional

6 , said the clock, 12 said my psyche,

Play, yearned  the mind, rest!! ordered the body

Snack, advised my mind, binge… followed my stomach

Read, said the bookshelves, watch the idiot box tempted

Up the balance of money, down went the health.

 Flourished a professional life , withered a youngster’s   drive.

Just An(OTHER) article about Friendship.

May it be our fast moving world, where we scramble for cover from the onslaught of "Tasks" to be completed by EOD or get trapped in the tightening noose of Deadlines; or the so called laid back life of yesteryears that we assume our forefathers enjoyed or even in the not too distant future where.... well I frankly don't know what will be the scenario then, But I am sure of this.... few things will remain sacred or relevant or whatever one wishes to address what matters to them.

But, If you check our history you will see that stories of love, tragedy, revenge etc form a small list that is present throughout it. But you know what completes or complements the list  - "Friendship"- The perfect chicken soup for the Human soul.

They say "Revenge is a dish best served cold" then Friendship is a dessert that never loses its taste.Once you taste and savour it, you keep wanting more. One might be separated by thousands of miles, but a simple Hi on facebook or twitter or whatever, a missed call or in olden times a few lines on a letter.... more than enough to rekindle the embers into a roaring fire.

It is this fire that will take us back.... on a sojourn into our memories - happy and horrid, trivial and life changing-everything passes through our mind like the great story.. the great movie it is- one without heroes or villians , but characters etched in heart.

I feel the best thing about the friendship is this....It is not how much you talked or how little nor what what you did or not ... its only about being there... and YES, being there is the greatest gift in friendship.... to share and care, to laugh and cry, to be the part and parcel of a common thread.

And when they part.... a new chapter is added... a saga that grows for eternity waiting for the next episode.......

And as I part I have only this to say we should meet  and meet we shall.

                                                          DASVIDANYA(Goodbye)
Till we meet again. :)

Sachin - the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything

Yep, you guessed it right, I am a fanboy and an immensely proud one at that.

Popeye, Captain Planet, Shakthiman and yes, Sachin completed my quartret of heroes as I was growing up.

While all of them had their own endearing characters, it was this man I wanted to touch meet and greet, for I ……No most of US grew up with him exulted with him wept with him

I grew up at a time when the most common thing about the coconut bats we used for cricket back home in Kerala had MRF emblazoned on it in some way or the other, such was the hold the maestro had among us… His bat, his gestures, his cap everything was up for imitation among us.

When he hit a century out comes the bats and balls and the fiesta starts, when he get out, off goes the TV. He cut and drove straight into our hearts.

He taunted the pigeon, he blasted the Rawalpindi Express, humbled Warne and gave many a sleepless night to his opponents and still they loved him for you couldn’t hate the man
.
As I close this I only have this to say as a proof of his lasting legacy
"For many, cricket became just a game after he exited."

LIFE - The Magazine Par Excellence

No, I am not talking about the ‘LIFE’ magazine which enthralled us with astounding photos and made photojournalism into what it is today, but a much better one at that- our LIFE…

What if, what if, we could browse through our lives just like we do at a hair salon, a bus stand….ogling at the  glossy covers, turning our nose down at the long prose, get impressed by the stills… relishing the tidbits of gossip. and so on and so forth.

How fascinating it would be, if one can read your life as a magazine,  or rather you can read others’,enjoying the differing voices inside, realising whether we are as good as we look, akin to not judging a book by its cover.

The cover- the glossiest , cheekiest part of you…..whether be your wit, attire or your most obvious misfires…. thats what gets attention or rather  becomes ‘talk of the town”. It is this what draws people. Many see the cover, but move away when they browse through the contents…. so the same for the people.

It is the people who decide to take a chance with the magazine (you)... that accompanies  our  sojourn, many may fall by the wayside but, rest assured , those who stay on will do so….FOREVER.

Just as  a magazine goes, our  life also has it highs and lows, from the editorial through the caricatures to the last page, it is indeed a roller Coaster ride.
One may brood on the letters to editor… which are nothing but the responses to the magazine/ you,get angry at the bloody opinionated prose(your Inevitable “Other side”)... enjoy the caricatures and unabashedly creative and joyful works, jump about in ridicule at the juiciest gossip  deserving incidents, amunition enough to tease you into oblivion :)… the possibilities are endless…. and worth experiencing.

Just as you always seem to gravitate towards you favourite one on the newstand, one always tend to be with the person one likes…. they always seem to be sorry to see the last page( bid farewell) to each edition (of meeting up) and wait for the next one.

So folks, what are we waiting for???????????????
many more editions full of blank pages stretch out in front of us…let your life fill it up with colour, joy and sentiments and churn out magazines that people cherish forever…  as a magazine/life par excellence.

The DIE is CAST(E)???????????

As I opened myself into the all encompassing world of media frenzy, amidst all the speculations of MODI’s cabinet and the resolutions of the congress working committee which reminded me of Sreenivasan’s epic scene in ‘Chinthavishtayaaya Shyaamala” , what caught my attention was a resignation charade which actually ended in ..a RESIGNATION .. that of ex Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. But as he steps down from the post he has nominated his successor too JITAN MANJHI, SC/ST welfare minister in his cabinet to the pivotal post, in what might turn out to be a political coup of epic proportions or literally the beginning of the END.

This move is interesting and engaging due to a multitude of reasons from the choice of the CM designate to the timing of the same when read with the national mandate to again the impending assembly elections in 2015.

India is a country where the “unity in diversity” card has been misused and literally made a mockery of itself in the decades since independence. From Shivsena playing the regional card to the Naga people’s front to Shiromani  Akali  Dal and likewise to the RSS, IUML,AIMM and so on playing the religious tunes ..  BSP and  all of them formed as a part of safeguarding the interest of the weakened classes, these have actually torn apart the farce of the unity and diversity card and it is indeed a marvel and credit to the Indian people that we soldier on.

Out of all these the most misused one is the caste card and historically also the changing leaderships has played the caste tunes to help further their aims. And Nitish has not deviated in this path as his choice is from the MAHADALIT community which according to many is as backward you can go in the caste hierarchy that too in a state where the caste system has not broken down completely or the emancipation of the lower caste have not happened fully. Through this many pundits believe Nitish would like to cash on this trend and gather support among them especially in the light of having had to fight the parliament elections on its own and suffering a dismal defeat.

There are many who also believes this move is a political coup because it will give Nitish control as well as cash in on the minority votes. But only time will tell if this is because when you analyse 2014 general elections results you do find some notes of difference which may prove a peril for him.
2014 elections will always be remembered for the swashbuckling way in which Narendra Modi captured the imagination of the masses that propelled the alliance he led to a victory beyond their wildest imaginations except for Amit Shah who predicted a seat share of above 300. But this election also has seen a paradigm shift in the electoral nature of the Indian middle class as well as the lower classes. The one disturbing fact which Nitish would do well to keep in mind is that all the parties like BSP which used to thrive on the caste card have been decimated in the mandate. The common man has shown that if given a choice between a regionally strong party which supposedly takes care of them and a strong national party with a very well oiled machinery which can definitely come good on their promises if they want to, they would take the latter. The same has happened to some regional players like the MNS ,RLD and RJD, the exception being AIADMK.
The move by Nitish can be seen as a political gamble keeping in mind the impending state elections as a way of recuperating losses now but this might even backfire in the most disastrous ways.

At the end of the day all this caste polarisation might turn out to be a one time wonder and the nation would go back to the tried and tested ways next time around but something tells me the new generation of voters are looking not for a blast from the past and archaic concepts but a strong central  ideology and not caste based one focussing on development and prosperity and the title I have given to this monograph will have to be tweaked to “The CAST(E) is D(ying)IE??????? ”

The silence/ruckus before the storm

“This might be the first time in the indian history that the youth is eagerly awaiting May.16 rather than Feb. 14” –#copy_paste_FB status

What better way to gauge as well as express the nation’s mood than this solemn statement : a mood hitherto unseen in the country as yet which hosts the “biggest democratic exercise” in the world as ARNAB would do it and “Times now is there to cover it”(OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!! Force of habit) .

By this time tomorrow, the victorious shall roam the the kurukshetra of ballot boxes stepping on the mangled and “Electorally" mutilated bodies of reputation and prestige.
they can be the Saffron Brigade of the aapni aapnu Ahmedabad waali Gujarat “MODI”fying JI, or the unruly horde of the Amul and Complan fed “SHEHZAADE” or the Guerrilla army of the Black Stallion borne Dilli Waali “AAP KI GUY” or whether it will be the chance of the leading Ladies of the South and West alike to cause a waiting line in front of their Official Mansions…. A Few hours more….

But one thing is for sure, blood will  flow and many a king or kingmaker shall crumble back to the dust whence they come from never to return….

Will  1O Race course road house the chaaikhana  waala from the glowing glittering land of the Gandhi who epitomizes the proverb that “All that glitters is not Gold”.. one who might crush the hopes of millions of minorities with his already burgeoning 56 inch chest, one who may hoist the turrets of RAM less “Ram Mandir” as a mark of religious intolerance…. Let the story unfold.

OR will it be the Shehzzada himself , the Harvard,  Cambridge and what not educated RTI and women empowerment ka Raaja , who will be moving to the palace which is (supposedly according to many a sycophant) rightfully his.. where his family have been frequent tenants, to make an INDIA of his Dreams…(can a proposal for naming naming India vadrINDIA or G(andhi)INDIA  be far behind )

Or will the champion of the masses , the magsasey award winning  party leader lead the nation to new frontiers… or will the DIDI and THALAIVI dictate the running  of the country, the permutations and combinations possible are endless and so is the story.

The intellectually oriented 4000 crore LABOURERS party also fancies its chances in areas so does the radical right , left and centre guys across the nation.

Well,, one thing is for sure , all of us are in for one hell of a ride so “ALL THE BEST” to ourselves.

ALVIDA……
